Dismissal If you will be picking up your child from school, please send in a note with them so I know that they will not be going on the bus that day. Also do this if you will be picking them up early so I know to have them ready for you at that time. Homework Homework will be given on a nightly basis, and will be based on the concepts we discussed in class that day. Every child has their own agenda book where they should be writing down their homework nightly. Please check this to see that they have completed all of their assignments for the evening. You can also consult our Website to find the homework for the week Tests Tests will always be announced in advance, and should be marked accordingly in your child’s agenda book. In most cases, they will be given specific instructions of what to study, and the material will be reviewed during class as well. Snacks Usually around 11:00 every morning we will have time for snack. I encourage you to send in healthy snacks for your children to eat and drink during this time. Please try to avoid sending in glass containers. The children are also allowed to keep a water bottle on their desk during the day. Please do not send in any snacks that contain peanuts or peanut products. Our class has been designated as a peanut-free classroom. ***District Policy*** Students are no longer allowed to bring in any food to celebrate their birthdays. Any food that is brought in will not be allowed to be given out to the class. Reading Time One of the goals of education is for children to develop a love of reading. I want to encourage children to read not because they have to, but because they want to. I will distribute reading logs for your children to keep at home. On these logs, your children will be able to record what they read, and for how long they read it. Any reading is good reading, so whether it is their favorite book or a magazine they like, encourage them to read every night.
