Every Monday you will receive spelling words for the week.  For your weekly spelling homework, you will need to complete a total of 20 points worth of homework.  It will be up to you what type of homework you would like to do, and when you would like to do it.  By Friday, you must have 20 points complete.  You can choose from any of the following homework assignments.  The amount of points each assignment is worth is located next to it

Spelling Principle of the Week: Science Words #1

Point Value

Three Times- Write your spelling words three times each

5 Points

ABC- Write your spelling words in alphabetical order

5 Points

Rhyme Time- Write each of your spelling words, then write a word that rhymes with that word next to it

5 Points

Computer Spelling- Using your computer, write each of your spelling words in a different font

5 Points

Word Scramble- Scramble all the letters in your word.  Then have a parent or sibling try and unscramble the word.  Make sure you correct their work!!

Spelling in Print- Read a magazine or newspaper and see if you can find your spelling words.  Cut out the article and bring it into school

1 Point for each word you find

Sentences- Use each of your spelling words in a sentence

10 Points

Story Time- Write a story containing at least 10 of your words

10 Points

Parts of a Word- Create fractions based on the amount of consonants and vowels in the word

10 Points

Scrabble Spelling- Write your spelling words, then figure out how much your word would be worth if you used Scrabble pieces

10 Points

Code Writing- Write your spelling words using a code.  Example: car

c - 1, a = 3, r = 7......137

10 Points

Money Words- Using the money chart, see how much each of your spelling words is worth

10 Points

Telephone Words- Write your word, then using the telephone keypad, write your word as if it were a phone number.  Don't worry if there aren't enough/too many numbers

10 Points

Create-a-Word- Write your spelling word.  Then create 3 words (at least three letters) using the letters from the word
